Best craft beer pubs in London

The "The Craft Beer Co. Covent Garden" in London, England, is a paradise for beer lovers and a staple of the city's vibrant pub scene. It is part of a small but growing chain founded in 2011 by two school friends, with the aim of providing exceptional beers and a welcoming atmosphere. This location, which opened in 2014, is situated in the heart of the West End and is known for its impressive selection of beers – with up to 45 taps, it holds the record for the largest beer selection in the United Kingdom. The restaurant attracts a colorful mix of tourists exploring the nearby attractions of Covent Garden and locals who appreciate the quality and variety of the drinks.

Excellent beer selection in West End

The interior of "Craft Beer Co. Covent Garden" spans two floors, blending the charm of a traditional British pub with a modern, urban flair. The ground floor features a long bar with a variety of taps, while the lower level offers additional seating and a cozier atmosphere. The decor is simple yet stylish, with wooden accents, exposed brick, and large windows that open up to the bustling surroundings. There is also a small outdoor area that is enjoyed on mild days. The vibe is relaxed yet lively, often accompanied by conversations about beer and occasional events such as “Meet the Brewer” evenings or tap takeovers where renowned breweries showcase their latest creations.

Craft beer experience in Covent Garden

Culinarily, the focus is clearly on the drinks, but the food complements the experience nicely. The menu offers classic pub snacks with a touch of sophistication that pairs perfectly with the beers. A standout is the handmade Scotch egg, which surprises with a spicy black pudding filling and combines a crispy shell with a creamy core – an ideal companion to a robust ale. The pork pies are also a favorite, made by independent producers and served with a tangy mustard sauce that rounds out the flavor. For something lighter, there is the Garden Club pizza, a thin-crust creation with fresh ingredients like arugula and tomatoes, perfect for a small snack or sharing.

Beer and snacks in pub

However, the true strength of the "Craft Beer Co." lies in its beer selection. Here you'll find both cask and keg beers sourced from independent microbreweries across the UK and international brewers. Particularly popular is the Siren Pompelmocello, a fruity sour beer with grapefruit notes that balances lightness with complex flavor. The Kernel India Pale Ale is also praised for its hoppy freshness and is often lauded by connoisseurs. Cider fans will not be disappointed either, as there are refreshing, dry apple ciders from small British producers available. The option to sample many beers in half or third pints makes the visit a delightful journey for the palate.

Vibrant pub scene in London

Service is another plus: the staff is not only friendly but also highly knowledgeable about beer. They are happy to make recommendations and often offer samples to help guests navigate the vast selection. Orders are placed at the bar, but the food is brought to the table, keeping the process efficient and straightforward. During peak times, it can get busy, but most guests find the lively atmosphere part of the charm. The restaurant is also a meeting place for beer enthusiasts looking to discover new favorites or simply enjoy the company of like-minded individuals.

Friendly team but I really came here to say, and to celebrate, that they sold a mild!! If you see a mild, buy the mild.

I like this pub. The staff are all friendly and know their wares, and the beers on offer are cracking. The layout is the only thing that I would change as the area is quite narrow.

Lots of taps and choice but it is dark & you can never see what they are when people are at the bar. Quite pricey for the stronger stuff.

Wow - just loads of choice! The Craft Beer Co. doesn't look big, but there is more seating downstairs, and the choice in beers is so huge there is a menu you can pick from. The friend I was with had a Blueberry beer that was pretty much like syrup but it was hilarious to see him drink it. I had a couple of beers and a rather wonderful cider. It was all fairly laid back, the only downside being trying to get down the stairs with your drinks...!

Very nice pub, I've wanted to try London Black for a while and it didn't disappoint. There are loads of options on tap so the selection was good. Many brands I'd never heard of which was nice. Roughly £7.70 a pint but that's average for the area.

Bar staff are incredibly friendly and informative. We came in quite late but they seemed so happy to serve us and even happier to talk, the bar staff on at the night of 08/02/25 were unmatchable
